Additional information

If someone different is picking up your child you must notify the kindergarten.  In an emergency, please call us and let us know who is picking up your child.

We will communicate with you via your child’s pocket and ClassDojo. We will put newsletters, receipts, and notes in the ‘pocket’. We write newsletters once a term informing parents of important dates, curriculum news and other things happening in and around the kindergarten.

Surrey Downs Kindergarten is in the suburb of Surrey Downs, close to the Surrey Downs shopping centre. It is easily accessible by the 543 and 543X buses, which travel along Illyarrie Avenue.

The kindergarten is next door to the Surrey Downs Community Child Care Centre and children are walked to and fro by staff, so they can get to before and after session care if needed.

We are within walking distance of Surrey Downs R-7 Primary School and visits are made regularly to the library and other shared activities.

Occasional care

Occasional care is for children under school age who aren’t in any other early childhood education and care programs, such as preschool, childcare or family day care. It promotes young children’s development by giving them access to high-quality early childhood education.

It may help parents to take part in a range of activities including non-work and casual work commitments.

Priority of access

The education department has a priority of access policy to decide who can get into occasional care. This might mean that some families get more sessions than others.

Phone Occasional Care 8251 2493 to talk to us about enrolling in occasional care.

Children generally can go to 1 session a week.
