We offer a play-based curriculum aimed at fostering creativity, resilience, social skills, problem-solving and a sense of social justice. We believe a child’s love for learning is enriched by strong relationships between home and the preschool and we encourage you to take part in the learning environment.
We invite you to join the governing council, which meets twice a term to ensure the smooth running of the preschool. Read through what a governing council does and speak to us to register your interest.
Athelstone Preschool children were encouraged to think like engineers and scientists for a recent project that aimed to extend their learning and language in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
The preschool was part of the Department for Education’s recent STEM Play Inquiry project, which aimed to trigger children’s curiosity and develop skills and attributes including cooperation, confidence and persistence.
During the project Athelstone Preschool children were encouraged to problem solve, find solutions and talk about their progress in the same way that a STEM professional would.
