We offer a number of programs and services to support your child’s early years learning.
Preschool program
Times
Your child can attend preschool for up to 30 hours per fortnight. On odd weeks Kindy days are Tuesday 9:00am - 3:00pm and Wednesday 9:00am - 3:00pm and on even weeks Tuesday 9:00am - 3:00pm, Wednesday 9:00am - 3:00pm and Thursday 9:00am - 3:00pm .

Fees
The parent contribution is $145.00 per term. See our enrolment and fees page for more information.
What to bring
Your child needs to bring these items each day:
- bag
- broad-brimmed, legionnaire or sun-safe hat (without chin straps)
- complete change of clothes
- drink bottle containing water
- healthy snack
- packed lunch - refer to our food and nutrition policy (PDF 499KB)
- library bag (Wednesday)
Please write your child’s name on all their belongings.
Clothing
Children learn at kindy by exploring and being involved in experiences like painting, sand and water play, digging, cooking and gardening. Dress your child in comfortable and practical clothing and footwear, so they can be fully involved and not worry about getting dirty.
Clothing also needs to be SunSmart (PDF 579KB).
What not to bring
Children should not bring these things:
- food containing nuts (some children have nut allergies that can be dangerous)
- unhealthy food or drink (lollies, chocolate, chips, fruit juices, fizzy drinks).

Parking
Please use the car park on the tourism Kangaroo Island side of the building when dropping your child at kindy. The car park between kindy and school is for staff only.

We have information available for parents and community members. If you can’t find what you're looking for, please ask the staff and we can arrange to borrow resources from Parenting KI.

Our daily routine promotes independence and aims to give children a balance of child-initiated and teacher-directed experiences. Our routine is also flexible to help us meet the needs of the group and individual children.
Penneshaw childcare
Kangaroo Island Children’s Services operates a childcare service at the Penneshaw Kindergarten site. This service offers childcare for children between the ages of 6 months and 12 years old. Contact them on (08) 85532436 for more information.
